MANILA, Philippines – The known radio network in the Philippines RPN9 is set to bring more quality news and aims to compete with the country’s local brand of news organizations like ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC), GMA News, and TV5.
The rebranding was possible after the owners, led by Ambassador Antonio Cabangon-Chua, sets a partnership with the CNN of Time Warner Inc.
Confirmed by The Solar TV Network Inc. and Business Mirror President Benjamin Ramos that the 9TV (RPN9) will be rebranded to CNN Philippines.

CNN Philippines will carry most of CNN’s international news coverage. Both networks will share their reporting to several bureaus for the ‘big stories’ the CNN Philippines is available free to all cable or non-cable Filipino viewers.
The said partnership for the rebranding is expected to formalize its aggregation within the week.
RPN9’s franchise was estimated to cost P800 million while IBC 13’s physical assets and franchise were valued at P1.2 billion.
In 2013 Malacañang has revealed to privatize RPN9 and other state-run network IBC13.
